I believe I have corrected the bug taking folks to the 404 page when trying to post a Reply in a thread.

Testing, testing... So far everything seems to be in working order...

Added later: Oops... Maybe I spoke too soon? Forum statistics two seems to be lost in space, and I note that the number of registered posts have decreased quite a bit for several people (house cleaning?).

If you're talking about the statistics links... Which I doubt you are...

There will be inconsistencies because the two statistics hacks - well, I've not really gone through either is so far as to specifically what they're doing (where / how they're getting their numbers) by manually parsing the php and related code. I've had to edit php scripts to insert triggers. On the original install everything went well - way back. I've tried to keep the original table in the database which may be what's screwing things up as this is a newer version and I may have missed something. I'll be looking at it.

In Statistics One, I told the counters not to look at the 'Coffee Break' forums for its numbers. I cannot restrict forums in this way in Statistics Two. Thus, if you look at each you will see inconsistencies in several areas.

I think you're responding to this:

I did make one change to the forum software preferences which will definitely be noticed. In a thread the number of posts for a poster is stated. I changed the preferences so that posts to threads in the 'Coffee Break' forums do not 'count'. I did this because I'm really a lot more interested in having a number related to posts in forums relevant to the site's original intent. The Coffee Break forums are play forums if you catch my drift.

You really know how to hurt a guy! Cut my numbers in half. :vfunny: Yes, I'm just a fun guy! Regardless of the numbers, there are no merit badges for the number of posts, I'd take these threads over some of that pompus drivel in those "relevant" threads, anytime. :p :smokin:

Yep... So I did... No worries though, I was just wondering. :agree:

And from purely ;) 'stats' point of view, why not show both the numbers?:biglaugh:

The bottom line is there are limitations of the php scripts and of my body of knowledge. On the other hand, I'm not sure the numbers are really significant anyway. A lot of the stuff in the two stats programs are guesstimates - such as referrers and what web browsers are used and such. Both the statistics programs are free 'hacks' so theres no room for me to complain.

Statistics One is limited to certain forums by software prefs which I set.

Statistics Two does not have the same switches as Statistics One has so there's where you can see better numbers with respects to posts. These are the 'gross' numbers, if you will.

On another level, Statistics One isn't a big deal - not terribly cpu intensive.

Statistics Two is very cpu extensive.

I did clear some screwed up days from the Statistics Two database field so there's a gap between about 4-4 and last Wednesday.

You may notice that in Statistics Two the Most Users Ever Online (at the same time) is screwed up. I'm guessing it is called from one of the vBullitin database fields because when I looked at the 'main' forums page I found it too, for some reason, is not registering the true figure which was last Dec 11th @ 99 people. I see the record of that day in a database field but haven't found the 'hiding place' of where it's pulling that number from, am too lazy to want to go through the php scripts and mysql calls right now to see where it's being called from - maybe something to do this weekend. But no big deal. We'll see where the Most Online number goes from here.

Also in Statistics Two is The Last 10 Searches. I'm not confident it is registering correctly. Not a big deal but is interesting from time to time to see what folks are looking for.

Energy, how many posts were you robbed of? Do you know? I'm just curious.

Atul, you're into software and I'd gladly give you the board code to analyze and the code to the hacks. If you wanted you could write a real nice stats program, I bet. But - let's wait until after the new version comes out if you want to do something like that. No sense spending a lot of time when the changes in the scripts are seriously changing. Even the database fields are changing. It includes threaded views and a 'combination' threaded/linear view to complement the current linear view. Obviously both of these statistical programs will be of no value. I have no idea how long it will be, or even if, the stats hacks are updated to work with the new version. So ---> Don't get too attached to these stats hacks.

After the update comes out and I have it installed, if you want to see the scripts and want to try to write a stats hack, I'll be more than happy to provide the scripts to you for that purpose.
