Try using 5 quotes. Do you think they would run off the page? On the same topic, how come some people post the same thing twice and don't give that a thought?

If you'll notice there is a subtile difference between the two (spelling of "out"). I thought I hit "cancel" in time to stop it, but did not. Had I known I was too late, I would have just edited the post. So there!

And that still doesn't answer my question. Is that all you can do is nitpick my writing, without adding any revelance? If you have constrctive to say, say it. Otherwise go back to the donut shop Sheriff.

Tried to post a reply to the Competition thread and got this error message

(Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/Forums/includes/functions.php on line 2798

Did not seem to be on my end as I still had net access...

I just now got the same error message when I tried to post a reply. I tried again only a couple of seconds after receiving the message with the exact same message and it posted no problem.

Well, this first... I don't know. They made a big switch so that both threaded and linear views are supported. The issue come into play in how they addressed the threading issue. How this fits in with the new quoting system - I do not know. I noticed that if you put in a name each time it keeps indenting - but I don't know what it's doing.

My first assumption is the software is designed to 'withstand' abuse and idiots like me. I haven't heard of it breaking by putting in multiple quotes, so I guess it's not an issue. If energy hasn't tried it yet to see if it 'breaks', I'm sure he will soon.

Is it desired? Asthetics are at play here...

When I quote multiple lines from the same person I just delete the "=username" after the word 'quote' on all but the first quote.

When I cite multiple people I leave the names in and it indents - which I assume not to me an issue.

I'll look into the "(Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/Forums/includes/functions.php on line 2798" issue this week. I really *think* it's a MySQL setting, but I'm not sure. I noticed again this morning the MySQL daemon went into vsleep for almost 4 minutes. There were 88 users (some were spiders) online at the time. If it sleeps, nothing will happen as http requests stack waiting for their sql query to be 'served'.

I have never seen this before changing to this server. And again, I think it's part of the vsleep issue, but I'm not sure.

Line 2798 is the second of the following:

So it's doing a replacement function.

Still investigating...

No it wasn't that. The message I got was very similar to the one Mike reported.

I'm considering http://www.venturesonline.com if things don't get better - especially this vsleep issue. They host the vB site so any problems should be easily addressed.

Yeah - I'll add a comment there soon but the fix wasn't for the issue here. That's similar to the issue I had back when I did the 2.2.9 --> 3.0.0 beta 3 switch and indexing was failing. It wasn't doing a needed character 'fix' if I remember correctly.
