VDA vs. AIAG - FMEA Ranking

Does anyone have a comparison guide?

So far all I know is a detection of 1 for AIAG PFMEA is mistake proofed--can't make a bad part, VDA Detection of 1 means any idiot can see/detect the defect (Severity 8 in AIAG).

How can we be so far apart?

Please explain what you mean be "so far apart," as both methods describe a situation where a bad parts is almost certain to not pass.

There seems to be a typo in the third column which should read detection.

I was in Germany reviewing a PFMEA for a supplier. I could not comprehend a detection ranking of 1 where the control was visual. I explained this is an 8 no matter how difficult or easy it is to see---the detection is still an 8. That's when they started explaining the detection rankings for VDA and I was amazed at the difference.
