I'm doing a fair job in facilitating DFMEA for our Organization. Many a time, when we discuss on DFMEA at Vehicle level or at System level, the team gets diverted to causes at component level or sub-system level (out of sheer enthusiasm). My job being to control this diversion, I, sometimes, struggle to steer the discussion in the right direction due to lack of clarity. With this said, I am now trying to draft a guidelines as to how to go about it. I've put my understanding on a piece of paper and looking forward to organizing a brainstorming session. In the meantime, I thought it would be a good idea to have some inputs from Covers.

Vehicle DFMEA
Causes: Wrong Vehicle Layout
Improper Selection of Powertrain
Improper Selection of other system
Negative of system function
Wrong input from one system to other
System DFMEA
Causes: Wrong input from connected system
Sub-System/Component failure
Negative of component function
Wrong System layout
Wrong input from one sub-system/component to other
Improper Selection of material
Improper Selection of fabrication process
