How are you addressing the verification of CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programs?

Seen done in a past life....

Previously I worked at a machining plant and the CMM was verified by taking a calibrated parts and comparing readout with known part dimensions.

Are we talking verification of the accuracy of the CMM, or verification of a CMM program ?
