I'll give it a go:

1. Vision - A statement of what your company wishes to see happen in the future
2. Mission (or Mission Statement) - Cascaded from the mission statement. A statement of what your company intends to do in order to acheive its vision.
3. Quality Policy - (or Quality Policy Statement) - Cacaded from the Mission Satatement. A written comminment to comply with appropriate regulations. These are objectives that will help to acheive the quality objectives.
4. Quality Objectives - These are cascaded from the Quality Policy. These are objectives that will help to acheive the quality objectives.
5. Divisional Objectives - Cascaded from the Quality Objectives. These are objectives that will help each division to acheive the quality objectives.
6. Departmental Objectives - Cascaded from the Divisional objectives. These are objectives that will help each department to acheive the divisional objective.
7. Individual Objectives - Cascaded from the departmental objectives. Objectives that will help each individual to acheive departmental objectives.

I would like to add that Divisions often have their own local Quality Policy, based on the Group or company wide QP.

Many also use the term Business idea (The very idea your business is based on) in conjunction with vision / mission as a basis for the QP.

Yes, I agree. Very well done. There can however be some objectives that are unique fro a certain department, or division and these have not been cascaded from earlier hierarchy.

Can somebody provide sample statements applicable to an Educational Institution providing Courses in Engineering?

How about, "We do our best to make sure that we don't unleash ignorant and incompetent people on an unsuspecting world."

What a statement!!!!!!!!!!

Whats that suppose to mean? (Vision?, Mission?, Quality Policy?,Objectives?................)

I was joking, but only partially. If a company or educational institution doesn't know what its mission is, or what its objectives are, constructing an impressive-sounding statement isn't going to help. Oh, it might serve as a marketing tool, but since everyone has one, it doesn't help much. What makes your institution different from others like it? Why is it better? Why should a potential student choose your school instead of one of all the others to choose from? That's what you need to identify and emphasize.

I raised the question on behalf of a batch of three students who are in their Final year of graduation and they are keen in presenting a paper on "Model school under the ISO 9001:2000 Certification process-A student's perception".

I do not have any experience in the QMS activities related to Educational Institutions and hence my question.
