Visiting southern California

If there is anyone out there that can help me with his little dilemma, I would greatly appreciate it.

I will be traveling to California in 2 weeks for my son’s wedding and my 82-year-old father will be going along. We have reserved a day to sight see with my older son who also lives there (I should really move to that sun-drenched spot)!

My problem is what to see/where to go since Dad has some back and leg problems that prevent him from doing extensive walking. I was considering the San Diego bus tour that I went on a few years ago, but other than that I am clueless.

Anyone have a suggestion?

San Diego, absolutely. I lived in So Cal for 18 years and SD was the place to go.

Try Seaport Village, LaJolla, the tour of Old Town, Balboa, Coronado Island, a Coronado Bay tour on a boat, Carlsbad, the coast itself. Just about anyplace the guides give you.

Thanks Randy, and my Dad sailed into San Diego at the end of WWII - discharged from there I think. He will be shocked at the changes!

Sue,
Enjoy the time with your Dad. How lucky you both are to have one another! As Randy said, there are tons of things to do in San Diego, and plenty of good lit at the tourist sites to help you decide. I love the zoo, boy I can't believe how long it's been since I was last there.

San Diego rocks

And the best part about San Diego is, of course, the fact that I was born there! :biglaugh:

I'm back.

Can't believe it actually rained in southern California while we were there and it was unusually humid too!

Went to San Juan Capistrano mission and did the San Diego Trolley Tour that covered Seaport Village, Old Town, Balboa, Coronado Island, and also did the southern half of the Coronado Bay tour around the naval ships. My father hadn't been back there for 58 years - it was quite emotional for him.

Thanks for all the good tips on where to visit. If it weren't so expensive I'd move there in a minute!

By the way, the wedding was beautiful, but I'm experiencing that motherly loss one has when a son gets married and chooses another woman over dear old Mom! :( ;)
