That SAAB 21 has got better mud tires than my Land Rover! They must use those 'primitive' airstrips in Sweden!
We do, but the SAAB 21 went out of service long before Sweden started using the (broken link removed) (using ordinary roads to disperse the aircraft).

Here are some pictures from my visit to Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose".
Oh, yeah. I read a fair bit about that machine. What a monster... Particularly if you consider the size of other aircraft of the same era.

here's a gallery of some photos of the TBM-3 Avenger housed at the Intrepid Museum in NYC.
I posted these on a plastic modeling forum.

Someday I'll use them as reference pics for a model, but I'm on more of an armor kick right now.

My Dad was a B29 copilot, flying from inland China early in the B29 campaign. After delivering a new plane halfway around the world, he completed 1/2 of one combat mission...his plane was shot up by Japanese high altitude interceptors over the Sea of Japan. They succeeded in getting the fires out, but they were beyond the point of no return at the three-engine fuel consumption rate. So, they had to divert to the designated emergency field at Vladivostok. Their plane was one of three B29s that the Russkies ended up with, and tried to copy as the Tu-4 Bull.
