Dear all
With reference WEEE requirement do we need to list out the electrolytic and ceramic chip capacitors that we use in Low voltage circuit, (Example 0.1 uF 50 v 0805 / 100uf 25v Electrolytic From NIC ) Do they contain PCBs in it

As per requirement we have been asked for filling the checklist with a Question (polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) containing capacitors in accordance with Council Directive 96/59/EC of 16 September 1996 on the disposal of polychlorinated biphenyls and polychlorinated terphenyls (PCB/PCT) (1),) If present Specify the Mass(G)

request some help from team in this regard,

Without seeing the question on the checklist I am not sure exactly what you are looking for.

1) PCB concentrations are usually reported in PPM or mg/liter.

On the other hand,

2) toxicity of PCBs is dependent on the amount of chlorine present. Aroclor (PCB) products are identified by a four-digit numbering code in which the first two digits (12) indicate that the parent molecule is biphenyl and the last two digits indicate the percentage of chlorine content by weight. The PCBs with a high degree of chlorination (1248, 1254, and 1260) are more resistant to biodegradation and are degraded very slowly in the environment. They may want to know the amount of chlorine in the PCBs.

I hope this helps.
