I am trying to find a standard that specify the weld penetration(depth)requirements? So basically my company is automotive supplier and also do a lot of TIG and MIG welding on stainless steel and we basically we use GMW14058 standard but this standard does not talk about how much penetration you have to have and its only talk about leg length and throat thickness on fillet weld. From my past experience, I have seen company submitting vertical & horizontal penetration, throat thickness and leg length data in PPAP for weld validation. So just wondering if anyone knows any other standards for finding what should be the minimum penetration on the weld joint should be? Thank you.
