How do you currently monitor your suppliers?

I usually take sampling check of receiving materials from our suppliers however in case of some suppliers as approved by my customer that customer doesn't permit us to do because of their handling damages.
By referring to IATF16949 at 8.6.4 a about statistical data, what is meaning of "statistical data"? what is sample document?
