What are the ISO 9001 Clause 5.3 Quality Policy Requirements?

Well, i think i just answered my own question. :eek:

But in the interest of anyone more noobish than me ( like thats possible) I will post this anyway.

Reading from ISO 9001:2008 5.3 Quality policy.

"b) includes a commitment to comply with requirements and continually improve the effectiveness of the quality management system,

At first glance i was thinking, the ISO 9001: Requirements.

Then i realized it actually is referencing the "Quality Management System" that pertains to the organization that wrote the QMS.

Is this correct?

You're correct, if I understand the question. The word "requirements" in that statement refers to QMS requirements, including ISO 9001 and all of the organization's own requirements (including customer requirements).

The reason i brought up the question, is this; I have seen several Quality Policies that have stated specifically " we are committed to meet the ISO9001:2008 requirements and continue to improve the quality management system" and i have seen those that read like this "commitment to meet or exceed customer expectations while adhering to and continually improving our quality management system" or of the like. So i guess i got to chasing a ghost of sorts and then realized the answer was right there all of the time.

There have been several threads on that topic. It was a very common thing to call out ISO 9001:XXXX in the past, and it sort of hangs on, like Randy says, "like hair on a biscuit".

I'm sure it was an overzealous application of 5.3 b as you have figured out.

See also the needs and aims of the organization in 1.1 General. which reflects in the policy of that organization. You can see that one of the requirements is the applicable statutory and regulatory requirements ~~~
