I work in the automotive industry and we manufacture plastic components. One of the legislation requirements we have had to meet is the curvature on the edges of components that a person's head may impact on.
In my experience the customer has always state what legislation we need to comply with and this information has been in the DVP (Design Verification Plan). We use this plan to agree what testing is required on the product and this is then included in our PPAP (Material and Performance).
