The business Black belt should already have analyzed the risks and prepared the timing and feasibility that would have included possible standard implementation in the timeline...leading to the same timing you are suggesting!!!:tg:
The seem to forget this little desk in the corner "QUALITY" that ensures they get all their certification every year...............and just assumes we will put it right for them when someone shouts:mad:

A word about PPAP submission levels: they pertain to what must be submitted to customers, not the totality of what you must do. Unless explicitly waived, you're still responsible for all of the applicable PPAP elements even though the customer might ask for a Level 1 submission.

Thanks Jim. I know this but the business did not realise it, I think the proverbial penny has dropped, from a great hieght, and they now realise what is involved,

First step: get a cross-functionsal team organized to help you with this project. As a team, take a look at your process flow diagram and see what processes are new, what processes are changed and what processes are the same. Update your Process Flow Diagram accordingly. Whether you do die cutting or 'kitting' (packaging), it is just an additional process step in your current process flow. You'll be surprised how little is changing. Anyway, after you finish your PFD start working on the PFMEA for the new & changed processes. Develop your controls and control plans based on the PFMEAs, implement them, retain the records and you're almost done. Also look at the requirements of 7.1 & 7.5 and see what new requirements and controls you need for the new processes to make sure that you are not overlooking anything. :read:

It sounds easy and it is easy if you believe it to be easy!:magic:
I am not at all worried about putting everything in place it is not a big deal.

The main problem was convincing the management team involved that it was necessary.

There is a project team set up and they are doing all the right things, FMEAs etc, EXCEPT nobody thought to involve the Quality Group i.e. my boss and I who are responsible for the QMS/SMS/EMS for the whole group about 320 people across 5 sites:mad:

They thought they could just bring us in at the end and we would just put everything in place and it was just about putting in some documents:mad:

I understand your frustration as I often got involved in projects only when 'we're ready to run these parts'. This could be a great opportunity in disguise for you. If anything fails then a corrective action could follow and a root cause analysis could point to the shortcomings in planning. This is how I managed to change some of the culture around me and drive improvements. For now, plant the seed and watch the tree grow. The time will come to harvest the fruits too.
