Hello to all the forum,

If this topic exists already, please indicate me where to go. I look alredy in the fourm search tool and doesn't show nothing.

Recently I was requiered from my customer (DAIMLER) to issue a time schedule to deliver YELLOW AND GREEN PPAPs... to be honest this is the first time I heard about those PPAP's. Could any one help please?

Thank you in advance.

Thats a new one on me as well. Best suggestion is to ask your SQE exactly what they are expecting/what they mean.

Any answers you get here MIGHT be incorrect - when you have the opportunity to do so, it is always best to ask your customer.

Well, I think I will do then. Frankly speaking I did it already and they are not responded yet. Thank you.

They are Germans..... sometimes they like to complicate stuff...

Yellow PPAP is an Interim approval.

Green PPAP is full approval.

BMW does it the same way.

Even VW likes to work on colors to evaluate the projects:

The determined readiness (evaluation points) leads to the following conclusions:
< 8.5 = Project status RED = Requirements not fulfilled, project goal at risk
> 8.5 - < 9.5 = Project status
YELLOW.
= Requirements not completely fulfilled. Implementation
of improvement measures mandatory.
> 9.5 = Project status
GREEN
= Requirements almost fulfilled. Currently no problems
expected.
This you can find it on the FORMEL-Q and remember.... they are Germans.:nope:

Hey guys,

You are all very funny, but it seems you are completely wrong.

I am a German and I have been working as a project manager for twenty years in the automotive industry (but now I am retired since a few months).

Let me explain you all what "Yellow" PPAP Approval and "Green" PPAP Approval means:

Maybe you know the 5 Phases of an automotive project according to VDA (German Automotive Association) or AIAG (US American Automotive Association ... or to be precise Automotive Industry Action Group). Maybe the wording is a bit different, but it's in the core like this here:

These are ...

Phase 1: RFQ (Request-for-Quotation)

Phase 2: Product Development
Phase 3: Product Verification

Phase 4: Process Development
Phase 5: Process Verification (also sometimes called Launch or so)

YELLOW PPAP Approval is when you get the PRODUCT approved
GREEN PPAP Approval is when the customer shows up at your side to approve your manufacturing PROCESS there.

Thanks for being so funny with your outpointing of ...

and "This you can find it on the FORMEL-Q and remember.... they are Germans." no.gif

Wish you well! Take care!

Hans ... your German from Germany :bigwave:
