These are the corporate objectives for our company; Can I state in the QM that those are our quality objectives or do I need to focus only on objectives related to quality; as e.g insted of Customer focus- Customer Satisfaction, insted of financial goal - Scrap$, etc., Do I need to eliminate Safety?
• Safety, Lower incident Rate.
• Customer Focus.
• Team member satisfaction.
• Reach Financial Goals, as per plan.
• Continual Improvement of Operational Efficiency: Quality, Delivery and Cost.

In my opinion, you can leave the extra things like Safety in the list. There is nothing in the standard that says thatis not allowed. It is your system.

But what about if registrar is questioning my objectives below; how can I address that to them?

• Customer Focus.
• Team member satisfaction.
• Reach Financial Goals, as per plan.
• Continual Improvement of Operational Efficiency: Quality, Delivery and Cost.

Thanks

The Standard says you have to define your Quality Objectives, and they have to be measureable. Objective number 2, 3 and 5 meet that requirement. The Standard does not say that you cannot add number 1 and 3. If he insists, then list the quality ones, and then list the others, and call them "additional objectives."

Hi!

About objectives:

What’s a good objective for the process Design and development?
Generally I use “number of nonconformities in the product realization process due to error in the design and development process”.
Any better ideas?

Thanks
António

Hi Antonio,
Why don't you try sometingh in the line of "Improving the first pass rate" meaning how many of your designs go through your process without having to go back for modifications/revision.:D

Hi Cris!

That in fact could be a good idea.
The problem with this design and development process is that it is static. In other words all the design of this company is done and will be changed only if the company decides to start producing a new product, which will not occur for sure.
Anyway, thank for the idea!

I belong to technical service provider company and we call our customer calls as jobs so the measureable metrics that we found suitable were

1. Mean Job Repair Time in days

2. Incomplete job percentage

3. Engineer job distribution as job weight or job count

The objectives are set on a by-annual basis such as

Decrease MJRT and maintain it at 2 days or 2.5 days

Maintain monthly incomplete job percentage below 20%

We are looking for other metrics.

comments are welcome

Boas Antonio,

Would it not then be viable to say that currently you are not performing any design and development?

ISO requires you to justify any exemptions. Someone has to be responsible for the design of a product, even an old one. Unless the customer is resp., then it falls on you.

I like Randy's response. The Quality Objectives need to match your overall business objectives. Whether you call them corporate KPI's or strategic goals, etc, etc, if they don't line up with what you are being compensated for (and what is driving the company forward), they won't be accomplished.
