What difference(s) you see before and after ISO 9001 certification?

I was conducting QMS orientation to our new hires. Then they throw a question at me saying "What differences you see before and afer the ISO 9001 certification?" I showed them the trend of the internal audit results before and after ISO certification. That's all I know. I don't have any details with our company sales. Is that something that I should show to new hires next time? Appreciate your help.

Thanks.

More control over processes.
More consistancy overall with everything, - documentation, processses, end results.
A lot more documentation - but it's worth it in the end :)

Before certification - Documents were never completed, everyone had their own way of doing something and did it - which resulted in inconsistant everything!!!

the biggest difference is obtain ISO9001 cert, if you didn't certification. you wouldn't got a cert
second, you will got some advance management method to ensure the system are running smoothly

My comparison is from a non-ISO company to an ISO one...not quite the same as your question, but sorta close...
so reverting back to the capitalist I am (is it reverting then ???)

A lot more time and money spent on internal and external audits, and less money spent defending why we didn't have a cert. And additional customers that would not use a non-certified vendor.
Net increase in profit.
No net change is quality system...just the number of trees killed.

(Profit may have been even higher if ISO never came along...but such is life.)

It will be interesting whether this gets moved to the "controversial topics" forum.
I'm all for functioning quality systems...don't really care which, as long as it functions...and ISO is a ticket to play these days...it works all in all, so no serious animosity from me. Does stick in my craw some days, though.

To get a truely tasteful meal one has to plan it, decide upon and select good ingredients for the dishes being served, take the time to properly prepare the meal, and serve it in an appealing & appetizing manner....Or just get some fast food at the local heart-burn establishment

Some of y'all seem to be getting the meal that you've chosen and are now complaining about the lack of fulfillment.

One of the first people to sense or see changes are your customers. Get feedback from them - nothing beats the 'voice of the customer'.

It all depends on top management's commitment.

If top management doesn't embrace it and fully support it, a quality management system is a constant thorn in the company's side.

If commitment is there, life get easier. Much easier. I have seen countless examples of each.

Hi,

For a better demonstration I would share the results of the objectives that the organization has set. e.g

1. % of growth.
2. New customers.
3. Process effectiveness

etc.

Thanks

Each process is supposed to be measured and monitored (cl 4.1 and 8.2.3). The trend results from those metrics should be a good report card of how the company is performing, and whether it is getting value and benefit from their ISO program. That is the intent of ISO, to improve performance. Not just audit findings or doing ISO better.

(If you do not see improved performance, hire me to help. Improving performance is what I specialize in.)
