Lincole,

A conformity matrix is a table that shows which of the documented parts of the management contribute to conformity of each clause in the management system standard. I've seen them for regulations too but as a compliance matrix.

It is the only document created especially for external auditors who may need help in seeing how the management system conforms to the standard when the manual itself is not a rewrite of the standard.

Thank you John, this seems a very long process for me to complete this before I can submit it for an external audit. :frust::frust::frust:

There is no universally accepted definition of what a conformance matrix is.

It could be, for example, what Appendix D of the AS9101D forms calls a QMS PROCESS MATRIX REPORT.

Please note that the hyperlinked forms relate to AS9100, not ISO 9001, but the concept of a "conformance matrix" is the same.

I have noticed that some certification bodies provide a form to demonstrate nearly the same thing as the AS9101D Appendix D for the auditee to complete prior to Stage 1. It demonstrates that their quality management system addresses all of the elements of the standard.

The use of the form is optional, but it is expected that the auditee provides something that is equivalent.
