In the mid of the sample run on HPLC, if any error occures in the instumrnt and after resolving it if again the sample aiquote is injected (which is still in its stability period), can i say it reanalysis of the sample?
Is reanalysis and retestng is same?

Re: What exactly the retesting ios? Is re-analysis and retesting the same?

Hello there!

My knowledge in setting up HPLC's is quite limited. Not sure if there are those here that are proficient with the equipment.

I ask that maybe consider providing some more detail regarding your study. And for those that are slow like me :D, maybe spell things out a little more, including the chemical bases you are using on it.

I think we can help out some, if we get some more detail.

In my view, and in my experience with FDA and GMP, an instrument error invalidates any results. Fixing the equpment problem and running another sample would not be considered reanalysis.

Is reanalysis and retestng is same?
Sounds the same to me.

Thanks for the replies. Actually I want to write the SOP on retesting.I am doubtful about whether the reason of retesting " 'Instrument malfunction during the analysis" is correct or not. Can you explain more about the view behind retesting?

Thanks Scott. It's much helpful. But what i was asking is not a part of OOS.
In my organization, analysts have to fill the retesting form if they do it. I feel that the reanalysis is that which starts again with weighing balance and vol. flasks. If the aliquote prepared is under satability period, one can use it for any no. of injections.
Because of instrument malfunction if one injects the same aliquote then definitly its not a Retesting.
But my higher authorities saying that the testing is that which starts with the weighing balance and ends at the report. Any step in between if repeated then its a retesting.
Confused....
