IMHO, there's never any reason to feel bad about giving customers what they asked for, unless you know that what they asked for won't work.

You know, it really depends upon your product, it's intended use, and what characteristics may possibly be compromised. I'm thinking by the time you get to powder coatings, your product is finished goods, or assemblies for finished goods, so yes, there may be a good reason to let the customer know that you are trying something different. a commodity supplier may not need to worry so much about it, other than product trials to ensure that all specifications are met. No one in this forum can tell you what is absolutely right in your situation, unless we know your exact industry and we are part of it.
