Let me expand a bit on the subject. Stories of Q/C, progress, improvement, audit etcetra etcetra are placed on 'Story telling boards' so that you "learn at a glance", whatever the story is trying to tell you. This is an age old method also known by its Japanese name 'KAMISHIBAI'. There are many sites on the subject, one is here:

Toyota uses the 'Visual Control' for a majority of activities, and its Principle 7 is dedicated to it.
