In my company we have many networked computers on the shop floor used for posting production confirmations.
On these computers we implemented a software Andon - operators push a button on a touchscreen in a simple program and alarm is displayed on dashboards running on a TV monitor hung high above shopfloor and on monitors used by teamleaders, maintenance and other support functions.
We found this software solution to be quite effective, also we could realize it without any cost by reusing existing hardware (old monitors, unused TV display, etc.)
I put an open source version of the software on Github - search in Google for ""vitplanocka eAndon". It runs on Windows OS.
