What is the difference between an API Q1 and API Q2 Quality Manual

I am a QHSE Manager my company working in the field of services for Oil and Gas co.(calibration,testing of gas/safety valves,hoses,flanges)we want to be complied with(API-Q2) how can I establish system? also I need to know in detail what is the difference between Quality manual according to API Q1 and Q2
we are ISO 17025:2005, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OHS 18001:2007 and 17025 certified,how can I start establishing the API/Q2 system

I can only be of limited help. I did consulting to API Q1 version 8, but have not been involved with the latest version (version 9), which is no longer patterned after ISO 9001:2008. API went off on their own for the latest version.

Q1 and Q2 are very different. From what I remember, Q2, instead of being a quality management system, it is more of a safety system. Although the BP gulf blowout triggered making Q1 stricter, it also triggered the development of Q2.

If I understand correctly, Q2 is mostly about well safety type issues. If that is the case it may not be something that applies to you.

Your best answer may lie with API, although they are known for being very slow to respond.

It has elements of Q1 but adds risk based assessments to the service process such as risk assessment and management, management of change, contingency planning, preventative maintenance,service design and validation, service quality planning based on your product and connected services that effect quality of the outcomes of the customers process that utilizes your product and service.

There is no exclusions from elements of the standard also Service-related products (SRP): Materials, equipment, and software used in the execution of a service.
