May I know what is the standard format for date? Is it mm/dd/yy or dd/mm/yy? You see we have shelf life control and this is bothering us as 12/01/04 can be interprate as December 1st and as January 12th.
We have many supplier from various countries and each are using its convention.

What is the standard date format as required by ISO?

I suggest your organization make a notice that your date format adheres to ISO 8601 when you use it. It may require a work instruction throughout your organization (including setting defaults on word processors) to get uniform compliance.

Johnny,

Now all you have to do is get your suppliers in line with the standard.
Agreed - in theory, you just make it a requirement all dates are in prescribed format on any documents sent from supplier. In practice, another thing entirely!
