Since when have we become politically correct? this is the group that exchanges possum recipes:vfunny:

Don't sweat the petty stuff, guys, I have always thought that we spend way too much time trying to find nongender terms. When they start referring to us as huperson beings, I'm gonna have to kick some hiney!

So Marc....did this poll provide you with useful data? The response totals are very low compared with the number of folks registered. I understand that knowing this could put some posts into better perspective, but there truely are threads involving questions where size really doesn't matter.

As a suggestion, if it is possible...maybe adding a question to be filled out on our 'User CP' information where the site/company size can be noted (and will show up with user info on the post) would be helpful. If the information isn't readily shown (without having to look somebodies information up) I know I'll forget what anyone has replied here (hehehee, some I already have!).

Just a thought from someone who suffers from CRS Syndrome.

Survey Sez...

OK - it's a profile field. Hadn't thought of that. Now - everyone go to your Profile in your UserCP and put it in!

Now - did it give me information. Yup - and as time goes on more people will add their input - we can say we have a baseline from the 'regulars'.

Consultant - 8 - 22.22%
1 to 15 - 1 - 2.78%
16 to 50 - 3 - 8.33%
51 to 250 - 12 - 33.33%
251 to 500 - 6 - 16.67%
Over 500 - 6 - 16.67%

But specifically what info? Well, just look and you can think all kinds of things. Obviously most are from mid-sized companies which makes sense and there's about 8 consultants. It tells me there are about 36 'regulars' - which matches what I figured.

What does it tell you? :thedeal:

Marc,

Does the software allow you to determine if there are duplicate I.P addresses that could be "whittled" down? I would bet there are members that sign on infrequently, forget their password and just re-register.

After scanning this thread first ...

(it's a bad habit but an an acquired one -- I used to be a technical writer in a previous life! You know, one of those guys who write the doorstops that come with the software CD. But I only did it for the money - honest! :vfunny: )

When I voted I put in the "over 500" since a global corporation of over 80,000 seems to fit there.

BUT! The department of that company that I work with -- also the ONLY part of that company which is ISO 9001:2000 (or ISO-anything!) -- is only TEN people. However, the corporation is used by our QMS as customer, supplier, landlord, bottle washer, trainer, and a whole lot of other things so I felt the big response was more fair.

Next stop: 17025 in 2004!

This was a 'fun' poll, so I'm not planning on any serious analysis.

As to your question, one cannot presume individual users based upon IP addresses for various reasons only one of which is few users have static IPs. Even in companies NAT or other address translation is typically used. If you use a dial up your IP will be different at different times you log on.

Amen to this. Here's a good one - At the November elections there was a referendum on the ballot to change the NY constitution to be gender neutral. Fireman to firefighter, etc. Identify and modify any "gender specific" term to a generic. I voted no (hell no wasn't an option). I can think of better ways to spend my tax dollars. There's other parts of the NY constitution that I would rather see changed. Needless to say, it passed.

Huperson - that's hilarious. I always got a kick out of the QS9000 Table H requiring Man days. I could cause trouble with this, but in my all female QS group at a previous employer, we always said that if it were "woman days" it would be cut in half.

Not bad, yourself. I have a cup on my desk that was given to me many years ago when I moved from the architectural arena into quality assurance. It was given to me by a good friend as kind of a "good luck" momento when I put in for the job. "The best man for the job is a woman" and my insulated mug states, "Of course I don't look as busy as my male counterparts, I did it right the first time"

Just kiddin' guys, I couldn't live without you, after all God made you first (I'll stop right there, I do have a little bit of common sense..:vfunny: :biglaugh: :D ) I truly do try to treat all people equally, but sometimes ya just gotta cut loose and stir things up.
