Hi, where can I learn more about the IPC 610 standard without having to attend the training. I am looking for knowledge sharing :bigwave:

I take it this is in reference to IPC-A-610D Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies - Changed thread title to reflect this.

Chuinggum, Erick is right. IPC 610 is very user friendly and visual, and you can learn a lot about it by reading through it.

i have the standard with me. its 400 plus pages.
it there a way to shorten the learning curve?

Everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to die first.

If you're like most companies, not all 400 pages are on topics that apply to you. Check the table of contents and focus your efforts on the topics that apply to your situation.

If you have specific questions about something in the standard, then it's likely that someone in The Cove can help interpret for you.

IPC not only does training classes, but they have videos on each standard that you can buy. That may be a lower cost approach to coming up to speed.

And remember that RoHS will be changing solder standards, so as soon as you get comfortable with tin/lead soldering, you'll have to re-train on other solder methods.

I actually got given a copy of this the other day.

The way I am approaching it is by identifying which part are relevant to what I need to do and ignoring the rest.

Im from the Philipines and i am searching for any supplier for this book IPC A 610D. When i did some research, the only option i have is to purchase it using a credit card, however the company where im working at does not use credit cards. So i need a Supplier near my location. Hope anyone can help me on this...

Any advice would be welcome. Its the hardcopy thats what i need.

Thank you. I have been using this book since i started working in this company and it was very helpful. I just need the latest version (D).

Loraine:thanx:
