Re: Elsmar?
I grew up on Elsmar Avenue (a short, dead-end street so I have no idea where the 'avenue' came from in the name). I asked around years ago and no one coud explain where the 'Elsmar' came from either. I wanted the site to have a 'different' name (after having been QS9000.com and then 16949.com) that I wouldn't have to change as time went on.
Cayman Cove came from my 'company' name Cayman Systems (aka Cayman Business Systems) because I had a foolish dream of retiring in the Cayman Islands.
Back in jr. and sr. high school, and several years after, I worked for EEG Inc. doing calibrations and such on some hospital electronic equipment. I billed them as Field Bio-Electronics (I worked 'in the field', i.e. at hospitals, and I worked on specialized biological response equipment like EEG machines). I used the name Field Bio-Electronics for years in contracting and consulting. When I got into quality and ISO systems consulting people started to ask about the goofy name. So.... After some thought, that's where Cayman Business Systems came from. Of course in today's world the Cayman Islands is synonymous with money laundering and hidden bank accounts. I wish I had so much money that I needed a place to hide it...
Company Name: Field Bio-Electronics (~1967 through ~ 1991) --> Cayman Business Systems (~1991 through present).
Web Site: Cayman Cove (QS9000.com - 1995 to 1999 --> 16949.com - 1999 to 2002 --> Elsmar.com) --> Elsmar Cove
The End.
