Where to buy IEC60601-1 Symbols

Hi @all ,

i have a elementary question

Can anyone tell me, where i can order the required symbols of the 60601-1 3rd Edition? I need the symbols as a .eps file ( vectorgraphic). I searched the complete internet for this files or for a vendor, but without any success.

Maybe you can help me!

Ok, I'll bite just to get the ball rolling. Exactly what symbol are you looking for and where would you apply it?

My understanding (and hopefully others will correct me if I'm in the weeds) is that the test lab will allow you to apply their symbol (UL, ETL) once the testing passes. I don't know of any "60601" symbol.

If it is the symbols shown in Annex D of 60601 that you are after, you will see that each has a reference to another standard, from which they are copied. Most come from the database of symbols - ISO 7000.

If you go to www.iso.org and search for iso 7000 you will find you can select 'graphical symbols' for your search results, with nearly 3000 results.

Alternatively, you can subscribe to the ISO 7000 database for full access to all the symbols in a variety of formats.

Personally, I find it easier just to draw them myself!

Thanks @all for your replies.

Sure, i know the reference to the other standards like the IEC 60417 in the Annex D of the 60601-1 and yes i?am looking exactly for this symbols.

Iam surprised at the fact that i can?t buy this symbols as a vectrographic. In which format come this symbols in the referenced standards? As a JPG or as a PNG?

What i can do is to copy the symbols out of the 60417 and create a new drawing. But i think, that is re-invent the wheel

I hadn't previously realized that the usual MDD-labeling symbols were available as .eps, but they're provided that way (and as bitmaps) on the CD linked by Sam above.

That set may partly meet your needs for IEC 60601-1.

The IEC/ISO graphical symbols database (www.graphical-symbols.info) is a paid subscription service and contains all ISO 7000 & IEC 60417 symbols. Each symbol has an associated pdf file that can be downloaded and the pdf file is in vector format and imports into AI nicely. The only drawback to this database is that it does not have the ISO 7010 safety symbols.
