Which Gage R&R to use through Mintab-16

Hi,

In Minitab 16 there is several method to calculate GAGE R&R Study -like
1.GAGE R&R Crossed -(Anova & X bar-R method)
2.GAGE R&R Nested
3.GAGE R&R Expanded.
Can any one elaborate. Which Study when to conduct .

1. Gage R&R (Crossed) is the standard R&R approach to be used when each part may be measured multiple times. The ANOVA approach is the best method. There is no reason to use the Xbar & R method. This was designed to make manual calculation easier and only approximates the results. With computers and Minitab available the method has outlived its usefulness.
2. GAGE R&R (Nested) is used for non-replicable (or destructive) studies where each part cannot be measured multiple times.
3. GAGE R&R (Expanded) is used when there is a reason to include additional variables such as within part variation into the study.
