The most disgruntled people watching last night's on-field antics were the English supporters - after all, fighting is THEIR job. Most of them managed to behave themselves for a couple of weeks, but in the end they've reverted to type. Now everyone just wants to see them go home - something Portugal are well capable of achieving on behalf of the rest of the world. :agree1:

Figo, of course, should be banned retrospectively for his "Head Butt", but as Portugal are already going to be missing several players through injury and suspension I doubt whether FIFA have the b*lls to do it. Got to keep those sponsors happy. :notme:

I think Australia may just force the Italians into extra time - if the Italians decide to play as they can they might get an early goal and go on to close the game out. If they play it safe, it could be a dour game, and I can see the Aussies causing a shock.

Yesterday's game was the worst exhibition of poor officiating I have ever seen. The referee lost control of the game almost from the very beginning. There were some extremely bad calls against both sides. How the referee could have missed the dangerous kick down in Portugal's box is anyones guess. The official should never set set foot on another football pitch.

The way they are whipping yellow cards out seems to be beyond control. This isn't supposed to be ballet, it's a physical game, and some amount of this is to be expected.

The coach's decision to keep Van Nistelrooy on the bench was a completely insane move on the part of the Dutch coach, he should have been in there the beginning of the second half.

Boulahrouz's card for elbowing Figo was a garbage call, while the hits on Cristiano were brutal and fortunately were addressed. All in all, a very ugly, disappointing game. It is truly a pity that a referee can't be replaced mid-game.

Oh well, at least there is still England and Germany to root for, how I want to see that match-up.

ouch....with 7 seconds left? It was a dive!!!!!!

Not to offend the Italian fans, just like to see a 'real' goal, not a PK with no time left. I wasn't really rooting for anyone.

Probably what you’ll have to see is Portugal –Germany, because England will fly home on Saturday when they play against us.:notme:

Then again, if Portugal should defeat England, they will have to face Germany without being able to field a full team. I figure at least half the Portugal players will get their second yellow card against England and be required to sit out their next game anyway. ;)

I always enjoy a great game, but nothing ruins a game more than having a bad referee.

Who is the biggest rival with Portugal, Italy or Spain?

At yesterday's game Portugal committed only 10 faults and got 11 yellow cards.
It wasn’t a violent game...

Our traditional rival is our neighbors Spain, but also England. At official games the last time they beat us was in the semi finals in 66. Since then we always won!
Anyway they have an excellent group of players, but I don’t think they have a great team.
