Anyway, the point was that Brazil have won the world cup in lots of places, including Europe, so it won't be unique if they manage it this time.

As for cricket - it's the finest game in the world. The only reason it's not played more in Scotland is because it's associated so strongly with our Anglo-Saxon cousins across the border. And five days doesn't seem so long when you support Motherwell...

I think you'll find the reason cricket is not popular in Scotland is more to do with the need for five consecutive days without rain .

Ha, so I was thinking the World Cup was kind of watched in the US, because my kids play, but I admit, I haven't heard of any office pools, that run rampant for a stupid over hyped football game once/year! You have World Cup office pools...good for you!

Yes, it is true. FIFA rankings are published almost monthly. Mexico is in 4th place.

Check the FIFA May 2006 ranking. If you want, you can read the procedure for the ranking establishment. I did not bother reading it. When the Czech Republic is ranked second and Nigeria, Cameroon, Turkey, Egypt and Japan are ahead of Germany, there is something fundamentally wrong with the criteria....

this ranking depends on the points acheived from the continent cups and from the world cup finals and qualifications

take as example egypt ,it wins the african cup last months ,and i think to win the african cup is not something easy ,even germany cant do that ,

for US they were very good in their world cup qualifications ,they always win ,but in general that doesnt necessary means that EGYPT and US are playing football better than germany or england, at all see the world cup this time ,it is the real thing
