I do a final inspection on production parts, operators inspect 1st pc., and in process production parts. I do all 1st art., I.S.I.R.'s, and prototype parts.

proactively - not inspection will be carried out if the prevention and error proofing taking place.

reactively - production do 200% inspection and QC do sampling, still receiving customer complaint.:(

We keep letting our customers do the inspections. It's a good thing we have mechanically inclined customers to correct our mistakes - it keeps our rejection rate down.

Please allow me to disagree with you Mark.IMHO if the production personnel does'nt know,how to measure a good part vis-a-vis a bad part,then he isn't worth his salt.What is he doing there in the first place?!:nope:

If one permits this kind of ignorance to prevail,then who and how will use the 'work-instruction-sheet'?And then,why hang Control form and WIS on the machine,just for decoration?!?:notme:

In my workshop,the production people are fully responsible for control of quality.The Q/A personnels are there to keep vigil over the production line,& conduct super-checks;to ensure stringent quality control.If you ask the Q/A alone to control quality,then IMO they are bound to fail.Other opinions are welcome.

you are right..... all self inspection by production comes to quality when we receive customer complaint

Sometime I am thinking we want to be proactive......less and less inspection ......end up save a group of people to do the work.......are we creating jobless to those people one day.....?????:bonk:

No. Frankly speaking do we complete all the improvement activities we plan???. If the process is controlled and inspectors are free we can give them improvement activities.
