The Gate Lice are coming... the GATE LICE are coming...

IMO it's not the airline gate agents calling them gate lice, it's the frequent flyers.[/QUOTE]

Not always.

From other postings that I can't find now, the origin of the term was attributed to gate agents.

Sure, other flyers adopted it too.

Well, our stage 1 audit is Monday. Fingers crossed. I really just don't know what to expect with this new deal. Seems sooooo much different than any other upgrade audit that I have done in the past.

Wish me luck and I'll keep ya'll imformed of the outcome.
:bigwave:

Meantime, Happy Easter!
Interesting that the transition starts with a stage 1. Followed by a stage 2?

CB that I am familiar with only do a transition, that is usually about 50% of the surveillance days.

Yeah, DQS requires a Stage 1 (1-day desk audit) and a Stage 2 (5-day full audit).
It's more than the transition - it is our 3 year renewal at the same time.

Its funny isn't it how a change in terminology and emphasis has brought about such concern in people. As long as you have addressed the 'new' elements you will be fine. After all, this version gives more freedom than ever before to allow the organisation to demonstrate control over what they do.

I wish you good luck anyway and I am sure you will let us know how it went.
This new revision (2015) is actually more difficult for my very small org. I read that this revision is supposed to be easier for smaller companies. HA! Soooo not true. What a false statement! We had it made in the shade with the (2008). But (2015) is a BEAR and has made my life more difficult and cumbersome with paperwork. I used to have time to wander the production floor but now I am chained to my desk. :(

But (2015) is a BEAR and has made my life more difficult and cumbersome with paperwork.
That is odd. One of the changes in the fifth edition of 9001 is to give even more latitude to the user organization about the type and amount of documented information. So, if you find yourself buried in paperwork, you should really evaluate if it is not a self inflicted pain.

I just had My audit for transision from 2008 to 2015. First the auditor had 1 day Reading the QMS of site.
Then he came to our company we spent 1 1/2 of 2 to review our business plan fr.o.m. All Different angels. This audit was very different to What I'm used to. The strategy of the company was in focus, what Will happend in 5 years. How was the strategy implemented in the company. Very odd for me.

Not sure about the latitude observation but it seams to me that in addition to Risk and goals, they have a bunch of stuff that they need to do.

All of my customers are in a panic note due to the fact that now they also have to be concern about metrics, inner and outer requirements. In addition, they are also concern about engineering and instrument being calibrated.

Shall I continue in why people are panicking.

However, it's all good stuff in moving the company to the next level but to paint ISO as providing more latitude - agree.... but it is more additional requirements on customer

Not sure about the latitude observation
The following comes from ISO TC 176 SC2:

5. How have the documentation requirements changed?
Specific documented procedures are no longer mentioned; it is the responsibility of the organization to maintain documented information to support the operation of its processes and to retain the documented information necessary to have confidence that the processes are being carried out as planned. The extent of the documentation that is needed will depend on the business context.
ISO 9001:2015 allows an organization flexibility in the way it chooses to document its quality management system (QMS). This enables each individual organization to determine the correct amount of documented information needed in order to demonstrate the effective planning, operation and control of its processes and the implementation and continual improvement of the effectiveness of its QMS.
All of my customers are in a panic note due to the fact that now they also have to be concern about metrics, inner and outer requirements. In addition, they are also concern about engineering and instrument being calibrated.
Could you please point out the NEW 9001:2015 requirements to that effect?

Re: Anyone registered yet to ISO 9001:2015?

Hello Mr. Kales (or anyone willing to help me out),

I need to clarify about planning Cl. 8.1 in ISO 9001:2015. In the standard, it is placed before capturing the requirements for products and services from the customer.

Note: This is different from QMS standard API Q1 - 9th edition where planning is placed after review of requirements. This is what is currently being followed by us.

Question: Does this mean we need to plan for all activities within the QMS as per ISO 9001:2015 Cl. 8.1 prior to actually performing work or capturing requirements? Must we have records of this?

Thanks for the help!

Regards,

Ronel

Today was a great day! We are on the way to our ISO 9001:2015 upgrade audit for May. :applause:
Just a few findings out of the stage 1 that will be addressed in the next 2 weeks so we won't have to worry about them in the renewal/upgrade audit. Then it's the typical process to get minor stuff buttoned up.

Thanks for chiming in folks.:bigwave:
