Than let it happen, or identify it during an Internal Audit. Or both.

Added: It could also be written up for Management Commitment on the worst case scenario.

I would suggest you get a copy of ISO 9000:2005 because:
1.) It is a "normalized" standard of ISO 9001:2008
2.) It has the contents of both the fundamentals - what ISO 9001 was based upon and vocabulary - if you and your certification body auditor disagree on a term, if it is in this document, disagreement settled.

While reading it is good bed time reading to put you to sleep, it is non the less a valuable document.

Let it happen, in fact ask the auditor if there is a problem with the arrangement. They'll stop suckin' eggs if there is.

So, we're all in agreement that I (the MR) should not be reporting below the VP level at least??

Since the new company President told me to my face that he does not want me reporting to him, (ouch - slap!) I would think that top mgmt would also include the VP level.......which is the tier below the Pres.

Sure! In the same way that an internal auditor may never meet the CEO in person, doesn't mean his report is not discussed at management review meetings. Isn't the whole MR issue one of "explicit authority" coming down from on high based on communication (written) which works its way up to the top?
