Who pays attention to the airline's safety speech?

This flight attendants' passengers do:

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2009/03/15/kadf.rapping.flight.attendant.kdaf?iref=videosearch

It's featured on CNN this morning.

He's on South West Airlines. Maybe some other airlines also allow this kind of onboard creativity, but I was struck about its being a South West Airlines thing because they were featured in the Leading Change class I'm just now finishing. The book about them, Nuts!, is a pretty good read about how putting employees first has made them fabulously successful.

Priceless:lol:

I'll bet the folks discussed it amongst themselves during the flight too.

The attendant deserves a big:applause:

That's funny! I've had some others who have attempted to make 'comedy' from the safety drill ("return your seat backs to the upright and most uncomfortable position"), but often it's pretty lame. This guy is great!

I did a search on YouTube to try and get the whole rap...found one that would have been ideal except for phone holder (and her friend) constantly going "Woo hoo!"

I then looked through some of the other examples...liked this one...

Never posted a YouTube video on here before and, it's the weekend so I don't feel like learning. ;-)

Can't disagree - see CNN for a much better presentation of his little process improvement effort.

It's simple things like these that makes a passenger feel welcome and cheered up after perhaps a different treatment by security personnel..;)

Being the attentive little bird that I am, I love studying people.

Most flight attendants I've seen are very professional and take their jobs seriously; however, they are less than excited about the pre-flight exercise. Why?

Because, no one cares. No one is making eye contact, so why bother? You folks are pros; you've done enough presentations to know when you're losing the audience. You become attuned to that and change your style, end early, do something funny, etc. The flight attendants have very little; so whatever creativity they have to break the monotony is applauded.

When you're on a plane, how many seats are you away from the exit?? Should the plane have to make an emergency landing, that plane will get dark and smoky, very quickly... ;)

Back on topic..... while I know that information is important, it's become so passe that very few people listen. Like the old "Hey Culligan man" commercials where they were yelling; people adjust. Let's add some humor to it where people will get the general message, pay attention, and possibly calm folks down from the pain of the whole process.
