This CB's credibility would obviously be questionable, if you have gone through a certification audit in the past with a lesser number of man-days than what they are 'trying to impose now'; and provided your answers to Ted's questions are 'NO'. You should be easily able to confront them with this and ask for an explanation.

Also, such incidents, though the outcome of irresponsibilty from erratic CB's surely, also bring out a serious issue (and a recurring one unfortunately) - The lack of knowledge, awareness and involvement of hundreds of other companies (And I dont mean berseak's company neccesarily) on such issues, giving the CB's room for misconduct and unprofessionalism. Maybe, there should be more stringent regulations (from the IAF) towards accreditation of a Certification body. The senior covers will be able to put more light on this.

Hence, its very crucial in selecting a reputable CB, and this comes from being involved and gaining awareness by the 'Quality' people responsible.

A business associate called recently with exactly the same allegation. On further check, it was found that the coming audit is a re-certification and hence extra man-days compared to the surveillance audits of the past two years.

I hope yours is not the same situation.

I agree. There is almost no information given by the OP on which to leap to the conclusion that the CB is no good/not reputable, etc etc.

He says it is because of the upgrade. It is entirely possible that this isn't the main factor. Hence my advice to find out.

As quality professionals, I would hope to see that we are modelling behaviour that illustrates decisions made on the basis of facts, rather than leaping to conclusions and assumptions without any data. :nope:

I ask CB for reason. but them can't answer me.
I told them maybe my company change to other CB for ISO9001:2008.

finally present CB not increase Man-day.

Oh my god.
