I had forgotten that story. Back in the 1950s, I devoured book after book about Greek Mythology as well as the classics like Iliad and philosophers like Aristotle and Plato. Even today, I use the theme of hubris, defined by Aristotle, in bearing light to bear on current events.
Aristotle mentions hubris in his book Rhetoric:
“Hubris consists in doing and saying things that cause shame to the victim … simply for the pleasure of it. Retaliation is not hubris, but revenge. … Young men and the rich are hubristic because they think they are better than other people.”
Aristotle believed that people indulge in crimes. like [nonconsensual physical] misconduct and maltreating others. only to fulfill their basic desire to make themselves feel superior to others.
ADDED IN EDIT: I had forgotten about the "forbidden words and subjects censor bot" and had to substitute a euphemism [in brackets.]
