As for the OP's question, the only plausible reason for Ford NOT to accept the ISO 9001 certificate for this company would be if the certification scope had limitations that would be relevant.
For example, if the AS9100/ISO 9001 certificate for this organization read something like: "The Design, Manufacture, Installation, Commissioning and Servicing of
Aerospace Tooling, Jigs and Fixtures"
In that case, the scope of certification is limiting itself to aerospace products; no guarantees that the certified QMS would also cover automotive tooling.
If the scope of certification is mute about this, one could assume that the whole range of products is covered.
