Will ISO 9001 be modified in 2008? What will happen to TS 16949?

Every experts,
I saw some news on the web,"the ISO 9001 will be modified in 2008". Howabout of the TS16949? Will it be turned into ISO 16949 or be discontinued?

The current emphasis for ISO 9001:2000 is only to revise for clarification by 2008 and not change any requirements ( from ISO Review of TS 16949 Extended until approximately 2008).

Has anyone heard any different as of now with respect to ISO 9001?

The direction of the Amendment to ISO 9001:2000 has not changed. Here is the lastest Purpose and Scope of the Amendment to ISO 9001:2000...

Purpose

The purpose of the amendment is to enhance the clarity of ISO 9001:2000 and to enhance its compatibility with ISO 14001:2004.

Scope

The following requirements shall apply to the amendment process:

· The model and process approach shall be maintained as defined in ISO 9001:2000.
· The amended standard shall remain generic and be applicable to all sizes and types of organization operating in any sector.
· The compatibility with ISO 14001:2004 shall be maintained and be enhanced, if possible.
· The consistency between ISO 9001 and ISO 9004 shall be maintained.
· The changes shall be restricted so that the impact of the amendment on the users is limited, and also that changes will only be introduced where there are clear benefits to users·
. The ISO 9001:2000 support package should be used to assist the writers in identifying issues for clarification.
· Drafts of the amended standard shall be subjected to verification against the design specification, and to validation by users

The next edition of ISO 9001 is expected to achieve publication around October 2008, whereas the next edition of ISO 9004 is not expected until August 2009.
