Hypothetically speaking, I'll need your support on possible solution for a problem that is not foreseen, however it's an exercise i was requested to perform.
There are 2 manufacturing sites, in different countries, with one plant concept between them, where all process and procedures are identical.
Eash side has it's produtcs references catalogue, however site A has a distribution center, and site B produces to that distribution center.
The tricky part starts now, Site B has product references that are WIP, and that are sent to Site A, its manufacturing is finished and then shipped to the distribution center.
Theoretically, with the existing ERP system, WIP product references have a WIPcoding after the reference " 123456WIP" and then after the finished manufacturing the reference is "123456".
By doing so:
- traceability of WIP reference would be lost ( it can't be integrated on the streamlined traceability of the non WIP reference)
- both references are cost managed differently
What do you sugggest in order to avoid losing the traceability and keep the cost management aligned between sites?
