I wish we did have a couple of central computers set up on the shop floor for that purpose but unfortunately, we do not. We have discussed it at various meetings but it's not flying with top management; it's a cost thing....

but as you've pointed out that cost matters.No prob.You still can maintain
a cluster free workstation.The wall mounting binders with leaf-folding
upwards or sideways may be used,as alredy suggested by some.All you have
to do further is to select the displayed documents vis-a-vis their
importance and utilisation(time wise).The documents required to be
reffered with greatest frequency should be in top most layers and so
on.Some documents may supercede frequency because of their
importance,that is for you to decide!
Tools of course can occupy a shelf in the corner.
I have'nt told you anything new,but when in doubt go back to the BASICS
