World Class Manufacturing - Model for Manufacturing Excellence

My Dear Frinds

My familiarity with this forum is since almost one and half years, But today I am starting my First Thread because in totality, this WCM (World Class Manufacturing) was not addressed. However, most of its constituents were covered unedr Lean Manufacturing, TPM, TQM, Toyota Production Systems, M.B. Award etc.

Here I take the oppurtunity to introduce a Model for Manufacturing Excellence which was given by A.V. Birla (A group of Companies, Second largest Business House in India).

World Class Manufacturing is a proven way of managing a business to gain competitive advantage thereby ensuring sustainable success – meeting the needs of their customers, employees, other stake holders and the community at large.

The implementation of WCM Model, a unique and holistic initiative can result in significant benefits such as increased competitiveness, reduced costs, better quality thus leading to better business results.

The Aditya Vikram Birla Group of India has developed its own unified corporate strategy under the brand name of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Program for achieving manufacturing excellence. The Aditya Birla Group of Companies has assigned this task to its in-house consultant – the World Class Manufacturing Cell. The WCM targets excellence in manufacturing as a mean of delighting the customers, employees and other stakeholders on a sustainable basis.

I want to share lot of information about this model and its methodology. I would like to highlight its uniquness and its superirity over other model of Excellence. But First, I am attaching the components. (WCM.bmp)

I, too, look forward to reading it and comparing it to the philosophy my organization has implemented since our merger. We say that we wish to be World Class (granted, I have not yet recieved a definitionon what that means to us)...but there are philosophys and methodologies in place thanks to our Brasilian parent company that I think will get us there.
