Good point, Jason, but it takes a pretty mature client (only in certain industries too) to put that stuff in the contract! And, they appear, based on what we've been told, not to be in that league!;)

With smaller Customer, we only use only General Terms and Conditions, there is no QSV, but on the other hand, there are also no QM-Requirements from the Customer.

In my machining business, I sometimes charged a fee to quote a part (labeled "engineering fee") and had no trouble collecting. This was for new and existing customers who had VERY complicated parts. Mostly, though, we followed the routine I outlined in another thread
This makes perfect sense..I just had never thought of it in relation to auditing I guess.

We actually did something similar for customer who wanted parts destined for the nuclear industry. They sent a whole package of requirements over and above our normal QA activity. We added charge for this on the P.O.
