Q
Re: Would you calibrate this instrument?
Thanks to everyone for all the info. This is the first time I have posted a question and I can't believe all the helpful information I have received. While reading through one of our customers PO, it seems they require calibration including without limitation ISO-17025, ISO10012-1, and ANSI Z540. I have two that I am going to send out for ISO-17025 accrediated calibration. The three I have with just certificates of conformance I will use until I have the other two calibrated. Then I am going to place them side by side and see if how accurate the one's I just purchased are and hopefully document something to file that shows they were accurate.
It seems expensive $125 for an $18 instrument, but at least I won't have to worry about it. When I first started working here we had a calibrated one, stickered and all that was within it's window, but didn't read correctly I think it had been dropped. I tried to order one from VWR but they had none in stock and a 3 month estimated delivery date. So I bought the three cheap ones (they were in stock) so I at least had one that worked. I will check Fisher out next time I order. Luckily the broken one was hanging in place when an auditor went through. He checked to make sure it was calibrated and hadn't expired. I never volunteered the info it didn't work. Just replaced it as soon as I got the new ones.
Thanks again.
Thanks again
