I am currently researching Test and Inspection procedures for ISO9000:2001. I have "googled" to get some ideas on how it is being done, but I am still feeling I need more definition.
Our current quality policy states two levels of inspection. Our company policy at this time is that we inspect in accordance to what level the customer desires. When we have a specific requirement for levels of inspection we adjust price of parts accordingly. If it is not regulated by contract, we inspect an precentage of each lot to verify the conformity of our products.
The first question is can this policy be written into our ISO9000:2001
manual?
My second question deals with the documentation of tooling used to verify conformity. We at this time have not been asked to document tooling used, but is it required. Our current policy addresses the need for routine calibration checks to the standard, and we follow it to the letter. We have addressed competance issue and have documented who does the inspection and what skill/training they have, but is that enough?
Our inspection record document is compatible for tooling documentation and we are not opposed to doing this, but I know that if it is documented we have to do it. Do we have to open that door?
I would greatly appreciate some feedback.
thanks,
Terry
