I have been given the task by the University I attend to determine the relationship between Cpk and 'Right First Time', but I have come up with a blank, If anyone could e-mail me any suggestions then I would be very thankfull. IP: Logged |

I can't see a relationship. "CpK" is quantified based upon data and requirements. "Do it right the first time" is a "qualified" thought process based on subjective actions. MHO ASD... IP: Logged |

Lee, Is "Right First Time" the same as "First Pass Yield" (FPY)? IP: Logged |

It may be a language thing but I read FTY as the first outcome of the process that may be controlled by GP-12 (early production containment). ASD... IP: Logged |

If I'm not mistaken, FPY of a process is the ratio of the parts produced without defect "first time" to the total no of parts produced. In other words: FPY = (parts produced without defects first time / total number of parts produced)*100 "Fisrt time" refers to products without a need for repair, rework etc. If FPY is what our friend lee01 means, then it is not difficult to relate it to Cpk.
