Hi Russ
Part of our solution is publishing department Org [flow] Charts & plant wide Org [flow] chart so all levels know where/to who they should 'communicate' any issues.

Pretty much a chain-of-command. example: non-quality related work issues = Operator-> Leadman -> Supervisor -> MFG Mgr/HR -> Plt Mgr/Corp HR; quality related issues = Operator -> Leadman/QA Auditor -> Supervisor -> QA Mgr/MFG Mgr ->Plt Mgr/Corp Eng & QA; Info from Top Mgmt: Announcements/Newsletters Posted on main info-board -> Specific info to Plt Mgmt via Monthly QSC Mtgs -> To staff Weekly Supv/Staff Mtg -> Info to all at Monthly Plt Mtg; etc...

I haven't seen any other solutions posted so please let me know if you were e-mailed any direct responses that may offer different approaches for us to consider.

Good Luck, Eileen

In addition to ewall comments, we have newsletters monthly(includes quality column with audit results, accomplishments; quality training etc) quarterly communications by plant manager, team meetings, performance measures and goals posted in areas.

You probably are doing allor most of this; just take credit for it.

Your procedures / work instructions are also a significant source of who communicates what to whom and when/why, etc.

A Little Story…
This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done!

Paragraph 5.5.1 of ISO 9001:2000 (was 4.1.2.1 of ISO 9001:1994) requires "Top management shall ensure that responsibilities and authorities are defined and communicated within the organization." to prevent this from ever happening again.

Just a funny to make ya smile on Monday. Don't we all wish it was so simple?

Apart from our work procedures (instructions) that clearly state who to go to when, we have a TV hooked up to a computer that displays a Powerpoint "Newscast". The slides are updated daily and contain a wide variety of information up to and including quality issues, policy, operations performance numbers etc.
Just wanted to share this and to gauge response as to whether this covers this aspect of the standard.

Cheers
