4.2.4.2 Measurements at appropriate stages of product realization shall be defined, analysed, and reported to management. These measurements shall include quality risks, costs, lead-times, critical paths, and others, as appropriate. Can someone please define?

I would associate this requirement with feasibility reviews where you're supposed to be analyzing aspects such as these. Note there is another As Appropriate.

I'm just starting on more detailed interpretations myself, so ....

I see this as part of APQP (where stages of product realization are defined). You have to have a defined design and development path (roadmap) wherein you define points such as feasibility reviews. Now do bear in mind that your system may define 3 points (or 2 or 4 or whatever) for feasibility analysis / review yet an actual project (because each are to some degree unique) may end up with more than your system defines (which is the minimum).

OK - you look at your defined design / development system and ask where the required elements are (quality risks, costs, lead-times, critical paths, and others, as appropriate). And you ask yourself what measurables you use to track / analyse these required 'elements'. To take an easy one - lead times. When and how are they determined in your design / development process and what measureables do you use?

Dawn, that original post sounds like a concise description of the old Ford APQP manual, the one with the "red, Yellow, Green" stuff in it. Within each section / step as you listed, and more, there are described actions and due dates, and scheduled reports back to management re their status were stated in the form of "red" - show stopper, "yellow" - show problem, or "green" - on with the show.
