Subject: ADMIN: WELCOME MESSAGE/Archive info Date: Mon, 26 Oct 1998 11:11:32 -0600 From: ISO Standards Discussion PUT ISO9000 Welcome ISO9000 PW=Quality "Title=ISO9000 Welcome File" *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Version 4.20b ISO 9000 Discussion List October 26, [email protected] Jane Jennejohn, Moderator and Editor Welcome to ISO 9000, a list dedicated to the discussion of the ISO 9000 Standards. My name is Jane Jennejohn and I am "Your" List Editor/Moderator. I can be reached at [email protected] The ISO 9000 Standards Discussion list is for those sharing and exchanging ISO 9000 information and experiences. Discussion includes: who is doing what, what the successes and concerns have been, what systems, methods, software and structures have been beneficial, identified and required solutions, long and short term strategies, who have you partnered with, educational methods and programs that have worked, policy and structural issues, assessments and corrective actions, customer and registrar comments and concerns, etc... The list engages in discussing and describing what is happening now, and focuses on what the ISO 9000 should look like in the future and why. Participants are invited to post notes, questions, comments, concerns, ideas, and especially information and suggestions which enable us all to better understand and use the benefits that the ISO 9000 family of quality standards provides. ISO 9000 is a moderated list. There will be a delay between the time you send a message to the editor, and the time it is posted to the list. Posts will be reviewed and/or edited before being distributed to the list membership. When replying to a question or request, please include subject headings which contain the subject of the original posting, and your last name. Example: ISO 9000 Registrars/Doe. The following is a list of subject flags. These flags should help those who wish to sort their mail before reading it. All of these flags will be the first word in the subject heading. Q: Questions. RE: Replies to specific questions. REQ: Requests for information. FYI: Announcements, conferences, and newsletters. FYI: CEEM Conference July 1995/Doe **** All list posts should be sent to [email protected] **** (Listserv commands sent to [email protected] - for example subscribing, temporarily stopping mail, setting mail to digest, etc...see Listserv Commands for more info) Advertising and promotion of products and services is not acceptable. If a post contains what is deemed as advertising, it will be deleted. It is acceptable to discuss products and services if the intent is to convey information regarding satisfaction/dissatisfaction of the product or service. It is acceptable to announce a request for information or services from members as long as the subsequent conversations take place privately. Do not post personal responses to the list. When responding to a survey or questionnaire send the response to the individual that requested it, not the list. When responding to previous posted messages, it is always a good idea to quote portions of a previous message. This does not mean the entire message with headers should be included, but those lines that are relevant. It helps if proper attribution (who said the quoted material) is given. Also, try to avoid quoting large tracts of text and simply adding an "I agree!" line with no additional information. A good rule of thumb is not to have more quoted text than new material. Of course, content is always more important than style so these suggestions may not apply. Please remember that you are responding to another person or persons. Professionalism in posts is appreciated by the list editor. Attempts at flaming individuals or companies will be deleted. When quoting reference material, please state your references. Please do not send a thank you to the list. Send them to the person who originated the message. At the end of each post, it would be appreciated if you would state your name and email address as a minimum. This allows others to identify the authorship of the post. Abbreviations. While many users of the internet are comfortable with the most arcane and obscure acronyms and abbreviations, many members of the list are first time internet users. First time users are generally unaware of these commonly used abbreviations. Please expand these terms at least once in your post. Example: CSA means Canadian Standards Association. - Please do not add the ISO 9000 list to your mailing list. Q. Where are the ISO 9000 standards available for downloading? In the United States American National Standards Institute In Canada Canadian Standards Association In the United Kingdom ILI Technical Indexes In Switzerland In Italy In Germany Orders from outside Germany: Orders from Germany: In Australia Standards Australia In New Zealand In China In South Africa In the Netherlands In Brazil Brazil Av. Treze de Maio, 13 In Sweden In Denmark In Argentina: Instituto Argentino de Racionalizacion de Materiales (IRAM) Tel: (01) 381-4424 / 381-4576 / 383-7691 / 383-3387 It would be appreciated if members could supply ordering information for other countries. Q. Please send me any or all information that you have on ISO Also: See these WORLD WIDE WEB SITES: Q. Why was I deleted from the list? If anyone feels that there are other frequently asked questions that need to be addressed, please respond to [email protected] I would welcome new additions. _____________________________________________________________________ Normally the listserv will want you to subscribe from your own account rather than having me add you to the list. This allows the software to confirm mailing routes. Contact [email protected] if listserv gives you any problems and I will seek a solution. ---------- All list commands go to: Send one of the following commands in the body of the message. TO SUBSCRIBE: TO UNSUBSCRIBE: TO TURN MAIL OFF FOR A PERIOD WITHOUT UNSUBSCRIBING: TO TURN MAIL BACK ON WHEN READY: TO DIGEST (have all postings sent in one mailing per day): TO RESTORE NORMAL MAIL (undigest the list) TO RECEIVE A COPY OF YOUR OWN POSTINGS: TO RECEIVE A LIST OF THE LIST MEMBERS TO OBTAIN A LIST OF COMMANDS: TO ORDER A LISTSERV MANUAL: To retrieve list of available log files (all past discussions on the ISO 9000 list), send mail to [email protected] with this message in the body: get iso9000 filelist This will give you a listing of available log files. To retrieve a specific log file, send a message to [email protected] In the body of the message type: get iso9000 log9304A This will give you files from 4/1/93-4/7/93 and 4/8/93-4/14/93. You may put more than one command in each mail message. The commands need to be on separate lines however. The listserv has support for a new, simplified search command. Basically you don't need any of the old JCL (// xxx) but can just send [email protected] the command such as SEARCH keyword(s) IN iso9000 eg. search calibration in iso9000 Instead of the old "index" output you will receive a list of item numbers and some "in context" porting of each item. You may retrieve all the items with the GETPOST command (eg. getpost ndpeople 2137 2141-2143 ) _____________________________________________________________________ Current Websites as of 10-5-98 "The A-List," a way to subscribe to the "100 best" ISO sites Our website offers ISO9000 checklists, tutorials, and related "white papers". http://users.snip.net/~scalies/index.html You may want to check out the site WWW.EtQ.com for some flowcharts for National Standards Authority of Ireland METAPRO EXCELLENCE INSTITUTE JKA, Inc.
