I have just been informed by ANSI that the vote on FDIS 17025 was:

ISO vote 53 - 3 - 1.
IEC vote 19 - 2 - 0.

Based on this vote, the IS will be published and ISO/IEC Guide 25 will be superseded and withdrawn.

Subject: ISO 17025 Available

The latest edition of 17025 (FDIS) has been published by Standards New Zealand as an Interim Standard. It has the designation: NZS ISO/IEC 17025(int) : 1999

The rationale for publishing an "Interim Standard" is to give laboratories an authoritative document that they can begin using now, pending the publication of the official ISO version of the Standard next year.

The NZ Standard costs $NZ 24.00 (about $US 13.00) plus postage. It can be ordered through the Standards NZ website at www.standards.co.nz or email [email protected]

The authorized edition of ISO/IEC 17025, General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories, has been published by ISO. The date of this first edition is 12/15/99. FYI: My company, Document Center Inc., is an authorized distributor of ISO standards here in the U.S.
